 SETTING UP: FULL VERSION

Please note that the download here does NOT include either SoundLoom or the CDP documentation.
The full CDP package for PC (including SoundLoom and documentation) is available at the CDP downloads site and also below as a zip-only version.

• Unzip the downloaded zip file Soundshaper_FULL.zip into any folder, e.g. \Downloads
• Double-click the self-extracting installer InstallSoundshaper6.exe.
  At the prompt, choose a base CDP folder within which to extract Soundshaper and CDP software.
  The recommended default name is C:\CDPR8. You can choose another drive or another folder name, but do not have any spaces in the path.
  Please also note the convention about folder-names – see below.
  
• The installation will extract files to these sub-folders:
     \_cdp (containing \_cdprogs for the CDP software)
     \Soundshaper6
     \TXT for supplied datafiles


• To configure Soundshaper for first use, please read the instructions on the SUPPORT PAGE or the section in the supplied file Setup_Soundshaper.pdf.
  When you first start the program, you will be asked to select (or create) some essential folders.
  The most important of these is your CDP base folder, e.g. C:\CDPR8).


• Also visit OPTIONS | SETTINGS to complete your settings for the program.

 UPGRADES and UPDATES

UPGRADE / UPDATE TO SOUNDSHAPER 6.3

If you have already downloaded Soundshaper6.3 BETA version, you do not need to download anything else, though you might rename the BETA exe to Soundshaper.exe, replacing any earlier version.

UPGRADE FROM 6.1

If you have already installed Soundshaper6.1, it is simple to upgrade to 6.3 with new CDP programs.
Download the upgrade file Soundshaper63UG.zip and follow the supplied installation instructions.

Settings
Save your existing Settings file (Soundshaper.cfg) and copy it to the new Soundshaper6 folder (e.g. C:\CDPR8\Soundshaper6). This will avoid having to configure Soundshaper.

User Datafiles
You may also wish to copy your personal data files from an existing User-Data folder (e.g. C:\CDPR7\TXT) over to the new folder (e.g. to C:\CDPR8\TXT).
If you have a large collection of these, you could instead copy across the old \TXT folder and upgrade it with specific Release 8 files and folders, which are included in the upgrade zip.

UPGRADE FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS

Download and install the latest FULL version.
However, you may wish to copy your previous Settings file and User Datafiles – see above; a collection of newer datafiles (only) is included in the upgrade file Soundshaper63UG.zip, as mentioned above.

 FOLDER NAMES IN SOUNDSHAPER

• Please use ASCII (Roman-alphabet) characters – as used in English – when naming folders and also text datafiles, namely: a-z (lower or upper case) and numbers 0-9.
• Do not use folder paths with spaces. This is because CDP programs run in a command-line environment, where such spaces may produce errors.
  This applies to Soundshaper folders set on the OPTIONS | SETTINGS page. Soundfiles that you load or save can, however, have spaces in the name.

 ZIP-ONLY VERSIONS

In response to reports that the self-extracting installer for CDP was triggering false positives in some anti-virus software, alternative zipfile-only versions have been created. Each zip contains a base CDP folder CDPR8 which you can copy to a location of your choice, as long as it has NO SPACES IN THE NAME.
You can also rename this folder if you wish.

The FULL zip includes the offline CDP documentation, while the LITE zip is the same but without the documentation, which can be accessed online here.
Both of these contain Soundshaper 6.3.

In addition, there is a Soundshaper-only version (Soundshaper6_3.zip), corresponding to Soundshaper_FULL.zip above, which has all the files Soundshaper needs but does not include CDP documentation or SoundLoom and its files.

 INSTALLING SOUNDSHAPER and SOUNDLOOM IN THE SAME CDP FOLDER

The installers for Soundshaper share the same CDP program files as the SoundLoom GUI, but do not include the special sub-folders required for SoundLoom.
These will be added to your installation if/when you install SoundLoom to the same base CDP folder (e.g. \CDPR8).

If you already have SoundLoom installed, installating Soundshaper should not affect it in any way.

The above does not apply if you install Soundshaper and SoundLoom to entirely different locations – you will simply have two sets of CDP software on your system.

 SOUNDSHAPER MANUAL

The Soundshaper Help manual has been updated for Soundshaper 6.0.
Unzip the file to the CDP Docs folder (e.g. C:\CDPR8\docs\).

For new features in Soundshaper 6 and recent versions, see the NEWS page. For Soundshaper 6, please refer to the files "Soundshaper6 What's New.pdf" and "NEW_6.2.txt" supplied with the program. Two extracts from the Manusl (About Soundshaper.pdf and Basic Operation.pdf) are also supplied, in the \DOCS folder.
